Our Nursery
The Horohoro Native Tree Nursery is a growing nursery providing native trees and plants to revitalise the landscapes of farms, lifestyle blocks and reserves.
Situated at Horohoro, 16km south of Rotorua on S.H. 30, the cooler local climate, (some would say cold and wet!) ensures that our plants are hardy and capable of withstanding the cooler, frost-prone environments of the North Island’s Central Plateau.
Seeds are sourced wherever possible from the local area including large natives (podocarps) .
The nursery was set up by Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara in 2017 with a goal to grow our own plants from seed, eco sourced from Horohoro, to help clean up our waterways, reduce erosion and nutrients leaching from farms, provide areas of shade and increase biodiversity in the South Waikato and southern Bay of Plenty region.
